Apple updates its RAW engine catalog with 9 new cameras now supported by Max OS X, 10.8 and which allows your photos to be displayed by you Mac as well as being edited in Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11.

Updating the compatibility of Mac OS X system with RAW files, Apple released Raw Compatibility Update 4.06 which adds support for the following new cameras:

  •      Canon EOS-1D C
  •      Canon EOS 100D / Rebel SLT
  •      Canon EOS 700D / Rebel T4i
  •      Hasselblad Lunar
  •      A Nikon Coolpix
  •      Nikon D7100
  •      Nikon D3 1
  •      Nikon 1 S1
  •      Sony NEX-3N

Apple may not seem fast enough to add support of new cameras to its OS and photography software compared o the reactivity of its main competitors like Adobe with Lightroom or Camera RAW  (Lightroom 5 is now available in its final version !) or DxO Labs for example. It took Apple nearly 4 months to bring the mirrorless Sony NEX-3 on Mac OS X. The camera was announced last February ….
Oddly though, the Hasselblad Lunar is supported only hours after its announcement, but it must be said that this luxury camera is actually built around Sony’s NEX-7 mirrorless camera NEX-7, which explains why Apple was so quick adding the lunar to Mac OS X and also meaning that Hasselblad did not change the image processing side of the NEX-7. Photographers still working on Apple’s Aperture have been anxiously waiting for a major update for months, or years now. Could Aperture 4 be announced today at 2013 WWDC ? ….
