Tamron lenses : 5 years warranty in Europe

Tamron 18-200mm for Sony NEX

This is what is called being self assured ! Tamron, the independent Japanese SLR lenses manufacturer and rival of Sigma, announced the expansion of the guarantee of its lenses to 5 years duration record that will allow photographers who have not yet done so to try the brand without taking any risk with regards the hardware reliability. Sigma had already extended the warranty to 3 years on its lenses to back up the launch of its new lens range like the very very nice and sharp 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art which outperforms the Nikon 35mm F1.4 G. (I am working on the Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art lens review on my D800. I’ll have it tested in the caribbean region next month and will have it compared to the Af-S Nikkor 35mm F1.4G on the filed)

The new Tamron program of 5 year warranty will be active from April 2 and to qualify, you must be a European resident (plus Turkey, Norway and Ukraine) and you buy your Tamron lens in European countries and through an official Tamron dealer. To ensure that your lens is covered by this 5 years warranty 5 years, you must first have it registered on www.5years.tamron.eu or use the traditional warranty card you will find in the lens packaging.
