Previously announced during the 2012 Photokina trade show, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm 1:1.8 is now coming to our markets in December at a retail price of $500 in America, while it will be sold up to €599 (incl. VAT) in some European countries like France which confirmed me the 30% increased price tag of this promising prime lens today.
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm 1:1.8 is a Micro 4:3 mount lens which offers an equivalent to a 34mm. It is a rather fast lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 and comes with the latest autofocus motorization which is both fast and silent, and allows photographers to record videos (MSC = Movie ans Still compatible). The ptical build of the lens gathers some special lens elements : 2 aspherical lenses, one HR ad one DSA for an expected high-end image quality. Users will appreciate its compact size and light weight, the benefit of the smaller sensor MFT mirrorless cameras. It weights a mehre 120 grams which is really nothing for a traditional 35mm F1.8 quality lens.
