A Nikon D5200 on its way with a 24MP sensor ?

Nikonrumors promised us a total of 5 news Nikon DSLR in 2012 and according to the leaks gathering website,  the next cameras to be announced by Nikon should be DX mount DSLRs. So the next announcement should be the Nikon D5200, a camera based on the D3200 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor, powered by the latest EXPEED3 processor as seen on the D3200 and offering a sensibility range of ISO100-6,400 which you should be able to expand till ISO 25,600, one stop higher than the D3200). The D5200 exposure metering system would benefit of the 2,016 RGB sensor as the D600 whereas the D3200 only has the previous small version of 420 pixels. The Nikon D5100 burst speed should reach 5 fps and of course, its screen will swivel for video purpose (Vari-angle lCD / 3″ / 921,000 dots).

It looks like Nikon is spreading the new 24MP sensor of the D3200 on its DX DSLR range but I doubt the D7000 will turn into  a D7100 with only this extra feature alone. I would bet the D7000 will remain in the range even though it may be escorted by a higher megapixel count D7100. I feel Nikon could renew the D7000 with the a D7000s version offering the same sensor and, why not, like Pentax did on the K-5IIs, the 16MP sensor without optical low-pass filter which would be a D7000E… wait and see.
