Pentax 645 price cut in Europe, now EUR 7,990

Pentax France warned me yesterday that they revised the price of the medium format camera, the 40-megapixel 645D, with a second price decrease of €1,000 in a row. The first one took place on March 2012. Today, here are the new prices of the 645D :

  • Pentax 645D, body only : €7,990 (vs €9,990 in Jan. 2012)
  • Pentax + 55mm lens : €8,999

I believe that the recent releases of high definition DSLRs like the Nikon D800 is not a stranger to this decision although megapixel count is not the only one acting for image quality, the sensor surface is also paramount. All medium format users know it.

The Pentax 645D is a modern Pentax medium format. Equipped with a Kodak CCD of 40MP (33x44mm) it has a 11-point AF SAFOX IX module (with 9 cross type sensors) and the latest Pentax Prime II processor. The user interface gains a 3″ / 921,000 dots screen while the camera has a dual SD/SDHC memory card slot and a mini HDMI output.
