Mac OS 10.8 Mountain lion doesn’t like Canon Selphy printers

Sep 26, 2012 1 Comment by

I just found out that Canon thermal dye 4×6 photo printers Pixma Selphy (like the CP-800, CP-900 Wi-Fi) are not supported by Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Canon support web pages say that the impression pilot is due very soon but with no availability date. I updated mu 27″ iMac with Mountain Lion and can’t use my little printer. I love this printer for family photos, when someone like my Mother today ask me for some prints of the kids… It is easy, the prints are lab-like and have a protective layer that enhance the photo durability.

So, nop, this is not going to be for this time. But I am amazed that both Canon and Apple did not think of including the Selphy printers pilot for Mountain Lion…

Actually it’s Canon that doesn’t like Mountain Lion. They check for the OS version and then when it doesn’t match 10.6 or 10.7 it quits. I might be a new printer but do you think I will buy a Canon? Bwa ha ha ha.

Here is the link to the site that tels you how to hack it.
