Casio EXILIM EX-ZR1000 : 24-300mm and fully loaded

casio exilim ex-zr1000

Casio has unveiled the Exilim EX-ZR1000, an advanced compact camera that gets about everything a high-end pocket ultrazoom camera can dream of. Sometimes, Casio surprise us with a top camera, innovation, cutting-edge features, but these R&D efforts are often spoiled by their poor marketing. It is quite near to the Casio Exilim EX-ZR300 announced last summer by the Japanese camera manufacutrer. Here is why I think one should consider the Exilim EX-ZR1000:

  • Back side illuminated CMOS sensor, 16-megapixel
  • Wide-angle and powerful 12.5x zoom lens : 24-300mm
  • Full HD video recording with progressive scan at 30 fps
  • 60 fps burst rate
  • 0.15s focusing
  • 0.25s between 2 shots
  • subject tracking
  • ISO 80-3,200 sensibility plus an ISO 25,600 HS Night Shot mode
  • All-in-Focus mode that widens the depth of field
  • Beauty mode that enhances the skin texture and ton of your portraits
  • A tilt screen that can be used as a compact tripod
  • A comfortable battery life : 470 images (Casio is pretty good at optimizing cameras consumption and their battery technology)
  • HDR mode (and their HDR Art mode they are proud of. No comment)
  • A setting wheel that can be used to control the zoom with your left hand
  • The EX-ZR1000 supports Wi-Fi SD cards, both Eye-Fi and Toshiba FlashAir.
