The Canon SX50 HS gets an impressive 50x zoom lens

A 24-1200mm lens, here is what makes the Canon Powershot SX50 HS a special camera ! With an optical zoom range of 50x it breaks the laws of physics. To achieve such a lens, Canon has placed three UD lenses. The zooming is powered by the smooth and silent VCM engine and the autofocus is USM. Canon has integrated a subject search function that is activated at the touch of a a button when you lose the subject at 1200mm. Then, the lens zooms back, you can see the subject again and release the button to have the lens automatically getting back to the previous focal length.

Canon Intelligent IS analyzes shooting conditions and subject to customize its operation accordingly. In video mode, the system compensates for the roll effect that can occur when shooting while walking.

A quick burst mode propels the SX50 HS at 10 fps.

Its UI is designed to makes PSAM modes easy and the RAW format availability will be very valuable to maximize the SX50 HS potential. The Canon SX50HS has the multizone white balance inaugurated on the Powershot G1 X last winter. It offset the color casts of multiple light sources.

Beginner photographers and amateurs who do not want to bother with the settings will appreciate the Smart Auto mode that detects the shooting scene from 58 cases.

The camera has Full HD 24p video recording and an external flash hotshoe. The csreen measures only 2.8″ but swivels.
