Olympus OM-D E-M5 : faster AF and more with firmware update V1.2
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 already gets a new firmware, which will now be available in version 1.2. This firmware update brings a few enhancements here and there and adds some compatibility with new Zuiko lenses and the underwater mode but also improves the autofocus speed, accuracy and tracking although the OM-D’s FAST AF is already quite satisfying. The Olympus OM-D E-M5 reignites the legendary OM-D of the analog era. This high-end mirrorless camera gets a weather-sealed body, a 16MP live MOS sensor, built-in CCD shift image stabilization on 5 axis, a viewfinder (EVF), a lightning fast FAST AF autofocus, 9 fps burst rate and a tiltable OLED touch-screen…
Olympus OM-D E-M5 V1.2 firmware improvements
- Faster and more accurate autofocus
- Improved AF tracking
- Faster camera startup from sleep mode
- Added support of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 lens in underwater photography mode (btw : underwater + photography + Olympus : did I mention that I am currently reviewing the TG-1 iHS ?)
- In burst mode when the autofocus is set to C-AF+TR, the camera will now display the AF tracking target
- When using the new wide angle and underwater modes, the camera will set its parameter accordingly
- The OM-D E-M5 will support the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-50mm 1:3.5-6.3 for underwater photography (I feel a waterproof casing for the OM-D E-M5 is coming soon…)
To update your camera with the V1.2 firmware, you have to do it with the dedicated software, Olympus Camera Updater, which you can find here.
