Samsung WB100 : a new bridge camera unveiled in France and Germany (updated)
Oddly, the new Samsung WB100 was official in Germany only. I asked other EU PR teams about this camera and today, Friday June 22nd, the French Samsung press officer confirmed it was also going to be launched in France. Oddly, again, this camera has the same name as a 12MP compact camera launched in 2009… an other WB100.
The WB100 is a kind of bridge camera. A kind of, because it has no EVF. It gets a 26x zoom lens with a wide-angle position of 22.3mm and a macro mode as near as 1cm away from the subject. It is optically stabilized and its 16MP sensor (which I believe is a CCD) records 720p movies at 30 fps. Its screen is 3″ wide but the german press release does not give a lot of technical specs and it does not state its definition. Still, we know that the Samsung WB100 can shoot swipe panoramas and 3D images. It is powered by 4 x AA batteries and weights 403grs. It has an HDMI 1.4 connexion.
In should be available in July, in France (€199) and Germany (€219).

The WB100 has a 3" screen. Probably low-res due to the camera's entry level price tag.
