M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 75mm F1.8 ED Micro 4:3 lens

Second premium glass lens of the week, and again, for the MFT mount. After the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH unveiled a couple of days ago, Olympus launched today the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 75mm F1.8 ED lens. It will suite your portrait photography needs with two main assets : a 150mm (24×36) equivalent focal length and a wide aperture that will create a nice and smooth bokeh, especially with the round aperture blades (9). This fast telephoto lens received ED and high refractive index glass lenses to enhance contrast and lessen chromatic aberrations. (see how it behaves wide open on this sample images gallery) The front lens gets a ZERO treatment that prevents flare and ghosting while the autofocus motorization is Olympus quiet and fast MSC system, neat, especially when recording video.

The M Zuiko Digital 75mm lens has a premium metal built and will be available in July 2012 at the price of $899… ouch ! But I have to admit, it would be a perfect match to the OM-D E-M5
