Leica V-LUX 40 : Leica's 20x compact camera

The Leica V-LUX 40 is 2012’s version of Leica compact camera based on Panasonic Lumix flasgship : the ZS20/TZ30. Just like the camera produced by Panasonic, the Leica V-LUX 40 has a highly versatile 20x zoom lens which design has been approved by Leica’s engineers. Its  24-480mm equivalent makes it a perfect travel camera. As a travel camera, the V-LUX 40 gets a GPS sensor, a feature I deeply appreciate to browse through my photo library under Aperture or Lightroom using maps and locations. The V-LUX 40 gets the same 14MP MOS sensor that allows the camera to shoot form ISO 100 to ISO 3,200 and to record 1080p videos (60p) in MP4, nice to share with no delay nor having to get the needed codecs, and to offer a high burst rate of 10 fps. The UI of this camera is improved by its touch-screen but I wish its definition would be somewhat greater than that… 3″ / 460,00 dots. The Leica V-LUX 40 is sold with Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10.

I am currently using a Panasonic TZ30 / ZS20 for its review.  The review will certainly apply to the Leica V-LUX 40, 50% more expensive… the price of this precious red dot…
