Could the new Canon DSLR Rebel T4i be on its way ? That is what canonrumors tends to say as a large camera retailer in the US has listed the T3i (EOS 600D) as “discontinued”. This is a bit of a surprise to me as the T3i was launched only last year and the T2i / EOS 550D, launched back in 2010, is still sold and among the best-sellers as well. So, if I were Canon, I’d rather cancel the previous generation of advanced amateur DSLR rather than the latest.
The Canon T3i is the 3rd most popular camera of Amazon’s DSLR section and the T2i is the 4th. So, will we see a T4i, yes of course. Will it succeed to the T3i and the t2i, probably. Canon may want to lower the number of items on the DSLR range. At least on the amateur market.
Canon Rumors also comes with an other interesting information (or rumors to be exact) : the new Canon DSLR should be launched along with a new EF-S 18-135mm zoom lens and with a cheap and very thin 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens. That would be awesome. And that could mean the T’i would be very compact compared to its predecessors. (btw : still waiting for Canon’s mirrorless cameras…)
