Adobe CS6 and Creative Cloud : launched

Adobe launched Creative Suite 6, the CS6 creative software bundle, and Creative Cloud, its new type of offer which sounds like a marketing revolution as end users will have the possibility to rent CS6 on a monthly basis along with Cloud services to save, store and share their work, publishing services.

Adobe Creative Cloud and the photographer

More than a simple cloud computing service, Adobe Creative Cloud offers content sync from your computers, mobile tools like tablets and smartphones but also offers some publishing tools like Edge and Muse, the new HTML5 WYSIWYG web site building tool. Your content can be sync between your Macs, PCs, tablets… You will also benefit from all up-to-date CS6 softwares. You will always get the latest versions. The interest of Creative Cloud as brought to the market by Adobe today is multiple :
  • You rent your softwares and don’t have to pay over $2,500 for them.
  • You have auto updates of the softwares and if new applications are brought to CS6, you automatic get them.
  • Creative Cloud includes all ipad touch apps.
  • You can auto save your work, your images, your creations…
  • Your work is always updated on all your computers and mobile devices.
  • You get some powerful and simple publishing tools, 5 website spaces.
To me, for a photographer, you may not need all CS6 softwares. But, the Cloud service is pretty convenient to share your best images or send the photos to a customer, put them nicely in a dedicated website… I wish Adobe would launch a Lightroom 4 RAW workflow cloud service as well to save your Digital Negatives and the edited / processed JPEG versions. This would be quite tricky for them as they told me when I suggested that in a Carousel Press Event last year, but I think one major issue is the weight of the needed storage space provided, for instance a Nikon D800 RAW (NEF format) file weight around 50MB…

Adobe Publishing Suite

As I said, Adobe Creative Cloud contains a publishing tools bundle. You may work in Dreamweaver CS6, Flash CS6… and then, you can either send them online or edit them flawlessly to adapt them to a tablet or a smartphone with the complementary Adobe Publishing Suite. Muse, the HTML5 editor and Edge are included. You can turn a brochure designed to be printed into an online catalog or into an ipad app.
