PocketWizard Plus III may manage up to 32 channels and 4 areas with either flashes or cameras that it will remotely trigger. UI has improved with soft touch buttons and a larger screen but could be better. The radio antenna is now incorporated in the Pocket Wizard casing.
PocketWizard Plus III offer two new user mode :
- Long Range (LR) : that doubles the working range of the transmitter
- Repeater (RP) : that will turn a Pocket Wizard into a relay antenna to widen the total working range
These new features will be quite useful outdoor when shooting a wide scene.
The PocketWizard Plus III is also comptible with previous generations and can be integrated in your Pocket Wizard system if, as a pro strobist, you already use Pocket Wizards. Btw : Pocket Wizards are compatible with all flahses and cameras brands as well as with shotgun flahses and Studio flahses.
PocketWizard Plus III have a new mode called TEST in which you can simulate when you press the shutter release button half-way donw to activate the autofocus and the metering of your camera. It can alos now trigger multiple shots at once and have a burst rate of 14.5 fps.
Battery life is said to be 50 hours with 2xAA batteries and when used to remotely trigger a camera, you can power the Pocket Wizard through its mini-USB 2.0 port.
