Here is a young fellow you should bookmark : Sacha Powell, 17. here is his Vimeo page. This talented teenager has proven that you don’y need any expensive HDSLR, nor $2,000 L-series prime lenses to make a good movie. In his latest release, Slow it down, he achieved a 1000 fps movie with a simple amateur DSLR : the Canon Rebel T2i (EOS 550D in Europe).
Even better ! The lens list he used is quite surprising :
- Canon EF 50mm f1.8, this cheap lens is number one at amazon’s.
- Canon EF-S 18-55mm : this basic kit lens nobody seem to dream of….
- Canon EF 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 : this absolute beginner telephoto lens
Of course video software is were everything happened. He edited the movie in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5.5. The slow motion effect was achieved thanks to a dedicated plug-in : Twixtor.
