Leica just launched its yearly photography contest, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, and opened the dedicated website where you can download your subscription if you want to enter the contest. Note that the applications will be closed on March 1st 2012, so hurry up if you think your photography portfolio is worth trying.
What can you win ?
First, glory : a Leica Oskar Barnack Award is a prestigious award that will enhance your curriculum and put you among the best photo reporters of the planet. Then, you will get a Leica M9-P (this one with genuine engraved Leica logo and scratch-resistant Sapphire glass on the LCD) with a fabulous lens, worth Euros 10,000 and a cash prize of Euros 5,000. Not bad !
Since a few years now, Leica also created a new contest to enlighten a young photographer. So, if you are less than 25 years old, you can enter the Leica oskar Barnack newcomer Award. The winner with its photography work will also win a Leica digital camera, the Full Frame Leica M9-P with a lens and a cash prize of Euros 5,000.
The winners will be announced next spring 2012 and the prizes will be given to them in France, during the Rencontres de photographie Arles 2012, while the opening week. This event is worth traveling from wherever you live on Earth : tons of photography exhibitions and a wonderful antique town of Arles, in Provence, South of France. Worth heading to Arles for your vacations next summer.
I will post shortly the images I took with the Leica M9 last year in Arles along with the M9 review. (with a gorgeous SUMMILUX-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. worth $4,500…)
